What is a flush sash window?

A flush sash window is a style of window where the sash— the part of the window that holds the glass—sits flush with the outer frame, creating a smooth, even surface. This design is often used in period properties to maintain a traditional appearance while benefiting from modern materials and performance.

Are flush windows more expensive?

The cost of flush windows can vary depending on factors like materials and customisation options. While they may sometimes be more costly than standard windows due to their bespoke design, it’s advisable to contact us for a tailored quote to meet your specific needs.

What is the difference between flush and casement windows?

The primary difference between flush and casement windows lies in the positioning of the sash. In flush windows, the sash is level with the frame, offering a sleek appearance, whereas in standard casement windows, the sash typically protrudes slightly beyond the frame.

Are flush windows worth it?

Flush windows are a worthy investment for homeowners seeking a combination of traditional aesthetics and modern performance. They offer superior energy efficiency, durability, and can significantly enhance the visual appeal of both period and contemporary homes.

Are flush windows energy-efficient?

Yes, flush windows are highly energy-efficient. Their design helps to minimise heat loss, and when combined with modern glazing options, they can contribute significantly to reducing your energy bills and improving the overall comfort of your home.

Timberweld tech

Innovative technology, modern design

Our Timberlook Flush Sash windows feature a fully sealed design thanks to the innovative Timberweld join. This patented technique combines the beauty of traditional timber butt joints with a variety of woodgrain options and the precision and strength of modern welding. By utilising this complex internal weld technology, we are able to create heritage windows that combine the elegance of traditional design with a secure, weatherproof seal. Multi-chambered uPVC profiles and advanced double or triple glazing deliver excellent thermal performance, with U-values as low as 1.2 W/m²K and A or A+ BFRC energy ratings achievable depending on specification. The result is reduced heat loss, more consistent room temperatures, and lower energy consumption throughout the year.

    Cills

Choosing the right cill for your Timberlook windows

We offer a choice of cill options to complement your flush sash windows. Choose between the contemporary shallow cill that comes as standard or the Radlington Cill which has been designed to replicate the historic cills seen on traditional timber windows.

    85mm Stubb Cills

These small but strong cills are often used for properties with stone cills, having been crafted to ensure that moisture is directed away from the frames, removing the risk of water ingress.

    150mm Cills

As the industry’s ‘standard’, these cills protrude 80mm from the front of the frame. They offer long lasting protection, are virtually maintenance free, and come in a choice of colours.

    180mm Cills

The 180mm cill is the largest cill we offer, protruding 110mm from the front of the frame. You’ll often find these cills in properties with frames that are recessed in the brickwork.

    Radlington 165mm

Cills are usually 30mm deep, but to accurately emulate traditional looking frames, the Radlington cill is slightly thicker at 55mm deep, protruding 95mm from the face of the frame.

    Hardware

High quality hardware and optional accessories

As standard, our flush sash windows are equipped with contemporary handles. However, you can customise them even further with our Premium Regency furniture. You have the option to choose from Peardrop and monkey-tail handles to give your windows a unique truly authentic period touch.

    Standard Handles

Our sleek window handles fit perfectly with Timberlook windows and won’t interrupt views. They are available in a wide range of colours to perfectly match our windows, and offer smooth and comfortable operation.

    Monkey Tail

Inject distinctive character and timeless elegance into Timberlook windows with monkey tail handles. These elegant and durable handles add a touch of vintage charm while providing reliable functionality.

    Pear Drop

Transform the look of Timberlook windows with classic and ornate pear drop handles. These handles combine timeless aesthetics with practicality, enhancing the beauty and functionality of our flush casement windows.

    Peg/ Dummy Stays

Decorative and functional peg/dummy stays not only add a touch of charm to our Timberlook flush casement windows, but also provide sturdy support, improving the overall window experience.
